Got my book! Comments & Criticisms (because, you know, I'm so important)

So, got my book yesterday and was up until the wee hours pouring over it. I must say, I love the rules. Especially all the 'advanced movement'options such as WALL RUNNING! (I especially love the idea of running up a wall and dropping onto an enemy - so cool!) All the 'advanced combat' moves as well, gives such great detail for melee that a lot of games don't have (excepting special rules of course) and, well, I think it's just great! The game mechanic is very elegant. I haven't read the campaign rules yet but |I'm pretty excited about those as well.

The fluff is excellent, I love all the Casanova excerpts especially. The artwork, while not my favourite, is very characterful and creates a good atmosphere for the game. I'll also point out that the smaller book size is great, makes me wish other games used this size - it's very handy without being too small.

My only gripes really is that the book feels very fragile and doesn't stand up to 'book trauma' very well (mine didn't make it through the post unscathed) I'd definitely be scared to leave it lying open. I almost feel like I should wear latex gloves while reading it! This is mitigated somewhat by the available PDFs so I don't have to be constantly flipping through the book mid game so it can stay nice and safe at home.

The translation is also a bit clunky (although far from the worst I've seen)it's easy enough to figure most of it out although I will be posting some rules questions in the not-too-distant future.

As a side note, I'm very pleased with the models as well (Ospedale). I was worried about the 'double' in the starter but with a bit of sawing and putty he was easy enough to repose. All in all very characterful models though and I can't wait to get painting them!

Really excited by this game. So far only myself and one other club member have picked it up but there's been a lot of interest from people waiting to see it in action. I'm going to our facebook page now to tell them all about it (the wall running should win some new players alone I think!)

I wish Carnevale and all at Vesper-on a long and glorious future!

Thanks for your support, sir! Let us see pictures of the way you converted that model when you have it painted.

I will do sir, although it might be a while - I have Venice to build!

Can someone give me some more info about the book itself please? Is it Hardcover or soft? How many pages? Color pages throughout, black and white or a mix? Also the size was mentioned, what size is it?

Thanks,

William

Hi Will,

The book is 172 full color pages, softcover. The size is 24 x 17 cm. The first section is the background, then the rules, and then the "bestiary" (if you want to call it that way).

Cheers.
