Carnevale scenery

Enlace a esta entrada 24 oct 11

I thought I would post this, that I posted on Beasts of War, some scenery I have started inspired by seeing Carnevale, I plan to create a few more tile designs (using blue styrofoam) and then creating molds, and casting up lots in resin, they can also be stacked, also plan to make stairs etc. Awaiting another delivery of styrofoam.

The house is an earlier scratchbuild, one of my first, now need to make some more in a Venetian style and some bridges

Eysium, it's great to have you around here!
You can attach the images, you don't need to upload them anywhere else :) (the button right below the writting box). Here's one for you:

saw that on BoW and liked it very much, I believe you posted something on your production methods as well over there? Mind reposting it here, I hate the BoW forums, I never seem to be able to properly use or find anything in them?
Cheers

The tiles were made from Blue Styro foam, 1cm thick, I cut out the tile shapes all based om multiples of 30mm (Carnevale base size). I then marked out the border bricks, all the remaining brick patterns were made using the end of a pencil with the rubber removed and the metal rubber holder bent to a rectangular shape, pressing this into the surface to create the brick patterns.
The grate was sculpted in Milliput, and small ereas were dabbed with basetex (a paint, PVA glue and sand mix (these are the areas picked out in green as weeds)
I hope this helps.
I thought this model of a steampunk theatre organ would also work well in Carnevale, it was originally made for a competition on the Lead Adventure Forum, the theme of which was a piece of scenery built on a CD, I am pleased to say I won the competition.

do you scratch build your buildings as well or is this some supplier I havn't yet found?

What is the standard size of a Carnevale table anyway? I am working on some Malifaux ones right now, I was wondering if the are comparable in size so I could dual use them.

According to the rulebook there is no standard table size for Carnevale. They recommend 30x30 inches minimum for a small or medium game though.

Last weekend, we use a 24x24 inches table to make the demo games. The teams were composed with 5 miniatures and the game was developed very good.

I scratch build my buildings, from foam board for the structure, detailing with what I have to hand.
As an example here is a picture of the organ prior to painting, the pipes are straws, the panels and organ structure - card, the outer mouldings - a chain, the inner mouldings and music holder cut from a laser etched gate, as well as a raid of the bits box.

@elysium: the house in the background is also foam mixed with lots of time? I wanted to try my hand at building buildings myself for a while now, do you happen to have some tutorials at hand?

@Selenio: the rulebook is already available somewhere?

@yokai: Some of us had the opportunity to attend the presentation of Carnevale last saturday in Barcelona. There we were able to buy the rulebook one week before the official release.
