Lemm's Patricians

Enlace a esta entrada 12 feb 12

I got the Patricians starter and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the minis - they are very good sculpts with crisp details.

I decided upon a colour scheme (random bright colour with blue grey and white that is featured on everyone) and set upon painting the male Barnaboti. From the promo pics this had been my least favourite of the bunch, but in hand he turned out to be a very nice sculpt.

I pinned everything on him, so putting the mini together took quite some time. I also made a Venice street base from green stuff. It didn't go perfectly, but I learned a lot and the next one should be better (more texture to the stone for one!).

So yeah, here goes. All comments and criticisms are super welcome. The coat from behind has a bit of a shine that will hopefully be gone once I varnish the mini.

I'm still debating whether to try and put some grass coming through a juncture of cobblestones.

Thank you BakjaK! I do the eyes first all black and then two white dots on both sides - I feel that it is a lot easier to do them that way in order to avoid the googly eyes effect (though this particular specimen looks a tad unhinged, which kinda fits the desperate Barnaboti.

I did a few touch-ups and varnished the mini. I fixed the trousers, killed most of the shine, added a tuft of grass and toned down the yellow in the feathers (due to a suggestion on a different forum). Not a big change, all in all, but I think it's a bit better now.

I really like what you've done with these. I myself am looking at getting the Patricians as my primary force.
