Hi everyone!
Just finished my second Carnevale game with a smile on my face. I played with the Patricians against the Ospedale, and I won.
At first things looked bad. To begin with, I made a big tactical mistake by leaving my Soldier of the guard in the Rhino's path, which in turn charged against me. Later on, the doctor used his Spiritual Bond spell to control my soldier of the guard. I hate this spell, which always turns the game towards the Ospedale team.
Then a streak of luck happened. My leader was the last model to act in the first round. The noble was very far away from the doctor, and in between there was a building and a canal. But I decided to try. The first action was running, and I got 6 Aces and a critical hit! which. This meant 5 inches (normal movement) plus 9 extra inches = 14 inches! Not bad as a home run! In the middle of the movement I successfully made a Running Jump to go up the building, and I finally crossed the canal and I reached the doctor.
Epic. There awaited the doctor and two madmen, and I managed to get in base touch with all three at once. With my last action (I had used one to run and one to jump), I attacked. Thanks to the great ability which is Grow Through Adversity, I attacked with a +2 dice bonus. I was lucky to inflict damage and the doctor failed his mind roll maintain the control over my soldier. So the noble's rescue plan was a big success!
Then I was lucky again. My opponent tried to place his most deadly model (Dr of the arsenale) on top of a building (so as to scorch three of my models with his cannon of despair). Luckily for me he got a fumble when jumping up. I wan towards him with my Barnaboti to block him, as he can't can't shoot when in base contact with an enemy.
A quick word about my soldier. The first time I played, I equipped him with a musket, but having to spend 3 AP to charge was very annowing. Today I decided to use the halberd for teh captain and a sword for the soldier. They are quite powerful in close combat attacks, and they got rid of the Rhino quite easily.
In short, it was a game with great moments. We had so much fun, and although we still got stuck with some rules, things went pretty smoothly. We will continue fighting in the streets of La Serenissima!
